Good graphic here - and pretty much lines up with the eye test. Makes me think if Houston had a more consistent back-court, they’d be even better!
Jimmy’s Career Efficiency
Jimmy Butler is quietly having the most efficient season of his career—at age 35. John’s provided stats tell the story:
65.2% TS, 58.1% eFG, and 71.4% at the rim (all career highs).
He’s also shooting 47.1% from the short mid-range (3rd best mark ever).
How’s he doing it? By evolving his game. With a career-low 19.7% usage, Butler is thriving as an off-ball player. Over 30% of his points come from transition (1.58 points per possession) and cuts (1.54 points per possession).
In pick-and-rolls, Butler ranks in the 93rd percentile, scoring 1.17 points per possession with a league-leading 23.4% foul draw rate. Simply put, he’s still cooking defenses by exploiting mismatches and forcing them into tough decisions, evidenced by his +6.1 net rating with him on the court (v. +1.1 net rating off-court).
